Volunteering with Hearts and Hands
Giving back to your community can be one of the most rewarding feelings. Being able to volunteer and give back can create a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. For individuals looking for a rewarding volunteer experience, Hearts and Hands can help. Our process of volunteering is not only easy but can allow anyone with the proper qualifications to become a volunteer.
Heart and Hands volunteers assist older and disabled adults throughout Western New York through the basis of cultivating meaningful connections. Those receiving services are not the only ones who benefit as our volunteers often create long lasting relationships with the people they serve. This makes volunteering with Hearts and Hands less of a service and more like a fun day out with a friend!
It makes me feel good to help others when I can, and I have made some good friends. Everyone I give a ride to is very appreciative and friendly. I am glad to help.
To volunteer with Hearts and Hands there is an easy onboarding process and a training session. The onboarding process consists of sending in a valid driver’s license, background check, and two references, along with a 45-minute training session. After the onboarding process and training session, the volunteer will be input to our system for the area(s) where they wish to serve. The rest of the process is up to the volunteer!
Volunteers will receive alerts on services needed in their designated area, containing details on what service is needed, how long it is estimated to take and where the service will be completed. This allows volunteers to serve based on their schedules and interests. Volunteers also receive milage reimbursement and supplemental insurance coverage.

Nearly every volunteer that joins the Hearts and Hands team has discussed how much of an impact it has had on their life. Laurie has a been a long-time volunteer with Hearts and Hands who finds her service a way to give back to her community. “I found out about Hearts and Hands through a friend. I was looking for a way to pay back a little for everything I have. It makes me feel good to help others when I can, and I have made some good friends. Everyone I give a ride to is very appreciative and friendly. I am glad to help.” At Hearts and Hands, we have found that nearly all our volunteers have a similar response to Laurie. Making our non-profit proud of the services we can provide.
