Eugene Abrahamson has recently been hired as Volunteer Engagement Manager for Hearts and Hands.
Abrahamson has 25 years’ experience in volunteer recruitment and management, having worked as the Director of Volunteers for Canopy of Neighbors, an organization which provides transportation for older adults in the city of Buffalo, and as the Director of Volunteer Services for AIDS Community Services. He also has been the Assistant Foundation Director for the Meals on Wheels Foundation, a Special Events Consultant for Sisters Hospital, and Program Director for the League of Women’s Voters. Abrahamson started his career with Compeer West, where he was the Volunteer Coordinator. He has a degree from Buffalo State College, and is a resident of Buffalo.
Abrahamson’s role at Hearts and Hands will be to develop a recruitment plan for the agency, facilitate volunteer retention activities and develop relationships with organizations for increasing volunteer engagement.
Hearts and Hands is a not-for-profit, neighbors-helping-neighbors organization which pairs volunteers with older and physically-challenged adults for transportation and non-medical home support. Founded in 2003, Hearts and Hands’ more than 300 volunteers provide services to over 700 care receivers in various communities in Erie and Niagara counties.
