“Dementia Respite at the Wright”
is a partnership between Hearts and Hands, C. Dee Wright Community Center, Alzheimer’s Association, and Erie County Department of Senior Services.
Seeking to support those caring for loved ones with early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, this social respite program will provide them with an engaging, safe and friendly environment to leave their loved one while taking care of their own medical, social, and emotional needs. Hosted by the Wright Center, participants will be able to attend the program the third Friday of every month 1pm-4:30pm.
Interested in a direct, meaningful, once a month volunteer opportunity?
We make it easy! A one-time training offered from the Alzheimer’s Association and Hearts and Hands, will provide the tools to engage and care for an individual with dementia.
Your time and compassion can mean the world and health of a caregiver.
Training for this opportunity is available through the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY and Hearts and Hands.
Volunteers must attend an Alzheimer’s Association “Basics” training online or in person which can be found on their website: http://training.alz.org. In-person courses will also cover Community Respite Activities. Volunteers are also to attend a Hearts and Hands volunteer orientation. We are flexible to your schedule, please contact us at (716) 406-8311 to sign up today!
